Different applications have different requirements for bearing running clearance. Some working conditions require the smallest clearance to avoid bearing disturbance, like vertical shaft pump and propeller shaft on ship, they have relative bigger tolerance on running clearance. Figure 4-5 shows the relationship between propeller shaft and bearing diameter and the relationship between vertical pump shaft and bearing diameter. Due to the biggest diameter of vertical pump shaft is around 300mm, so the data of bigger bearing diameter doesn’t provide here. Please contact the engineers of A&Z Science if you need.
